Your medicine’s journey—from first fill to your mailbox

When you place an order with Humana Pharmacy®, we’re committed to delivering your medicine safely and on time to reduce your trips to the pharmacy each month. We accept many types of order requests, including new prescriptions, refills, over-the-counter (OTC) medicine and prescription transfers. 

Here, we’ll go over how we process new orders and their average processing times. 

Filling a new prescription or transferring one to Humana Pharmacy

These are the steps we take to process a new or transferred prescription from another pharmacy to us:

  1. We reach out to your prescriber to confirm your prescription. 
  2. We fill your prescription and 2 of our expert pharmacists review your order to ensure the dosage and amount are correct, and that it doesn’t interfere with any other medicine you’re taking.  
  3. We mail it to you.

After we’ve confirmed your prescription with your prescriber, which may take up to 7 days, you can expect to receive your medicine in 7–10 days. 

Please note: New order requests for specialty medicine could take longer to arrive. Due to the complexity of some specialty medicine, we’ll contact you to schedule a delivery and ensure you understand your treatment. 

Refills

If you have refills available on your medicine, you can sign in to your account to place a refill order with us. You can also refill from our homepage or mobile app. Since we already have your information on file, we can quickly process your refill order. 

Here are the steps we take to process a refill:

  1. We fill your prescription and 2 of our expert pharmacists check your medicine for accuracy and safety. 
  2. We mail it to you.

You can expect to receive your refill within 5–7 days. 

OTC items

Certain Medicare customers can shop for OTC products, such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen, at Humana Pharmacy. Check your Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC) or sign in to your account to see if you have this benefit. If this benefit is part of your Humana plan, you’ll receive a monthly allowance to spend on OTC products each month or quarter. 

When you place an OTC order, we confirm you have the funds to purchase the items before processing your order. 

Here are the steps we take to process OTC items:

  1. We pack your OTC items in secure packaging. 
  2. We mail your items to you. 

You can expect to receive your OTC items within 10–14 days. 

Expedited orders

We offer free standard shipping on all orders, but we understand that sometimes you need your items sooner. So, we offer expedited shipping for $6.99 per order. 

On average, expedited orders should arrive at your home within 1–2 days after they leave our facility. 

Easy order tracking

Once your prescription or OTC products becomes an order in our system, it’s assigned a unique order number, so each item can be tracked online once it’s shipped. 

Sign in to your Humana Pharmacy account to get started with mobile text alerts, which will allow you to receive order and shipping updates directly to your mobile phone. With Humana Pharmacy, getting your medication delivered is easy and safe.
