Meet Debbie! A Humana Pharmacy staff mail operations pharmacist
Debbie’s love of science and medicine—plus a deep desire to help people—pushed her to start a pharmaceutical career 31 years ago.
Debbie has always loved healthcare, since age 15, when she volunteered at a hospital. After working in a dietary department and as a respiratory therapist in hospitals, Debbie moved to Humana Pharmacy. She’s been a staff mail operations pharmacist here for the past 12 years.
A PharmD and RpH, Debbie tries to make a difference in people’s health through great customer care. “My motto is to start every day with a positive attitude and help each customer feel special and understood,” she says.
Working in an area that calls prescribers’ offices when issues exist with a customer’s prescription, Debbie will ask for a new prescription, clarify missing or unclear information about a prescription and/or address safety concerns like drug allergies or dosage. She enjoys talking with other members of a customer’s healthcare team, like nurses, doctors and pharmacists. In her words, “The ultimate goal is to best take care of the patient! It’s all about teamwork.”
And caring for others doesn’t stop at the pharmacy. When Debbie’s not filling prescriptions, she cherishes spending time with her grandchildren and dogs.
